ABOUT ME

Hello! I'm Emma Clarke, a children's author and illustrator living in the beautiful (and soggy) south west of Scotland.

My debut picture book, Where Is Pierre?, was published by Bloomsbury in April 2026. The story follows a rather worried bear on a mission to find his particularly elusive penguin friend, Pierre! It's received lovely reviews from The Bookseller and Kirkus Reviews, as well as from readers! And I’m delighted to say that Bear and Pierre will be back for another adventure in April 2027. In the meantime, I'm busy dreaming up plenty more characters and stories.

Before becoming a full-time author and illustrator, I spent over fifteen years teaching English, Drama and Art. These days, I love swapping the classroom for book festivals, school visits and creative workshops, where I get to share my enthusiasm for stories and illustration with young readers.

I work from my home studio, where I'm assisted (a term I use loosely) by Bramble, my rather needy spaniel, and Catty, a cat who if he’s not eating, is sleeping.

When I'm not writing, illustrating or spending time with my family, you'll probably find me at the gym, attempting to convince myself that lifting heavy things is a perfectly sensible way to relax.

Thanks for stopping by!
