Thank you for stopping by my little corner of the internet. It’s lovely to see you here. I am Emma Clarke, a children’s author and illustrator based in the south west of Scotland. I’ve loved writing for as long as I can remember and am still proud of my very first story as a child. It was eleven pages long and had to be said in one breath. I got so excited about the plot, I forgot it might need some full stops. Luckily, with an English degree and over ten years teaching English, Drama and Art, my punctuation skills have improved! I fell into writing picture books during the pandemic and I haven’t stopped since. In fact I wonder why I wasn’t doing it all along - I love it! I have worked on a number of private commissions, including creating repeat patters for a reusable nappy company as part of their ‘Spread a little nappiness’ campaign. I work from my home office studio where I am assisted by one needy spaniel (Bramble) and my rather rotund Cat, memorably named Catty.
